Flowers!
This is strictly my opinion, but flowers can brighten up a room or an outside area with their vibrant color and the way they dance when the wind hits them just right. When flowers bloom or are added outside it lets you know the dreary days of winter are gone and it’s time to head outdoors for some fun in the sun.
For several years, Quicken Loans/Rock Financial/Title Source have been involved with a non-profit called JARC. This organization is dedicated to helping people with disabilities live full, dignified lives while providing support to their families.
A couple of weeks ago more than a dozen Community DIFF volunteers headed out to one of the twenty JARC group homes to help them with their annual Flower-a-thon. What is a Flower-a-thon? Well, it is just what it sounds like…a volunteer event that allows pros and novice to plant flowers, vegetables, assist with weeding and other gardening chores that will give the home that wonderful spring time look and feel.
At 10:00 am we showed with gloves, pruners, gardening trowels and a lot of laughter. We got a quick walk around the outside of the house to discuss where to plant the flowers before taking a tour inside the house to get a firsthand look at what JARC does and who they help. By 10:30 am we were ready to go. We had about 8 people in front outlining the flower bed with pink and white flowers that lead up to the front door and the rest of us were in the back planting tomatoes and various other vegetables. Thank goodness Eric, who guided us on the ins and outs of planting a veggie garden. If it were up to me, those poor people would have had enough onions to feed everyone in the neighborhood.
It does not matter how big or small the volunteer event is, it is about doing the right thing and making a difference. Oh, and having a blast while doing it.

Flowers and roses brighten any home and garden. you can also cut a few and deliver them to your neighbors and brighten their house too!
Thanks, Jimmy
