Sponsors, Including Quicken Loans, Helps Detroit’s River Days Shine

The 4th Annual Detroit River Days took place along the Detroit Riverfront from the Renaissance Center to the new Milliken State Park from June 18 until June 21 when the Target Fireworks attracted one million locals to Hart Plaza. Quicken Loans, Fathead and In-House Realty was proud to be a part of this one-of-a-kind festival by sponsoring the Tall Ships in which visitors could climb aboard the schooners and wave to our Canadian friends across the way.
This was my first time at River Days and it was a great time, not only because the weather was beautiful but everyone was friendly and there was plenty to see and do. When we arrived, we walked along the Riverfront and kids in swimsuits were running through the fountain trying to catch the water at varying heights. We watched sand castle artists craft a cool display of nautical-themed sand masterpieces. We enjoyed the breeze while visiting the tall ships and checked out some of the entertainment, including traditional African dance, a hip hop dance group and several bands.
Food vendors sold refreshments and nonprofit organizations had booths along the walkway sharing information on ways we could get involved in our community. As we headed back toward Hart Plaza we watched jet ski demonstrations by professional freestyle riders doing impressive air jumps and underwater dives. We finished our day with dinner downtown and came home with sunburns that will last a while but an appreciation for the riverfront that will last a lifetime!
